Trump greenlights first group of missiles to be given to Japan

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he has approved the initial batch of missiles for Japan’s Self-Defense Forces to equip their F-35 fighter jets.

Speaking to American troops aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington at Yokosuka naval base near Tokyo, Trump said, "I'm delighted to report that I've just approved the first batch of missiles." He added that the shipment is arriving "this week, so they're ahead of schedule."

Highlighting US military strength, Trump stated: "From now on, if we're in a war, we're going to win the war. We're going to win it like nobody ever before." He praised the US Navy and the nation’s defense capabilities, emphasizing that no other military can match America’s equipment, missiles, planes, or ammunition.

"There's no military like our military, not even close. Nobody has our weapons, and it'll be stronger and more powerful than ever before very soon," he said. Trump also underscored the importance of skilled personnel in operating advanced weaponry, noting that without trained operators, even the best equipment has limited value.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi accompanied Trump during the visit and addressed the US-Japan troops, pledging that Japan will “proactively contribute” to peace and stability across the Asia-Pacific region, signaling a deepening of the bilateral alliance.
