Israel Receives Body Of Hostage From Gaza For Identification

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Israel said it received a coffin believed to contain a hostage's remains from Gaza, with identification underway as pressure grows for full hostage recovery.

Israel's military announced that a coffin believed to contain the remains of an Israeli hostage killed in Gaza has been received through the International Committee of the Red Cross. The handover reportedly took place in Gaza City.

The body has been transferred to a forensic institute in Tel Aviv for verification. Officials said the identification process could take up to two days.

Hamas has not disclosed the identity of the victim. Once confirmed, the number of deceased hostages whose bodies are still held in Gaza would stand at 12.

Israel's chief of staff stated that military operations will continue until all living hostages are freed and all bodies of those killed are returned.

Israel's Channel 13 reported that Hamas likely knows the burial sites of at least 10 of the hostages still in Gaza.

Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya said recovery efforts are complicated because some individuals who buried hostages have since been killed during the war.

The return of remains continues to drive political and military urgency, with Israeli families demanding faster progress. International actors are urging renewed negotiations to secure the release and recovery of all hostages as humanitarian needs escalate in Gaza.
