Kuwait, UNICEF Holds First Strategic Dialogue


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) held their first strategic dialogue Monday in New York to with a view to strengthening their partnership.
The meeting was co-chaired by Kuwait's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and UNICEF Executive Director Ms. Catherine Russell.
The strategic dialogue addressed the strategic partnership between the State of Kuwait and UNICEF and its role as a model of solidarity in the service of children and humanity, as well as the State of Kuwait's historic role in supporting UNICEF projects in key development areas related to children such as education, health, nutrition, water, and sanitation.
The conferees also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in light of the challenges, conflicts, and disasters the world is witnessing, which directly affect the well-being and safety of children.
On the sidelines of the meeting a grant agreement was signed between the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and UNICEF to finance a response to the cholera outbreak in the Republic of Sudan.
The grant agreement was the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah and Ms. Catherine Russell. (end)
