EU Calls For Protection Of Civilians In El Fasher In Sudan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- The European Commissioner for Equality and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib expressed on Monday deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in El Fasher, North Darfur, Sudan, stressing that the city is witnessing "a humanitarian catastrophe reaching its peak."
In a statement posted on X, Dalli said that "civilians are being killed and families are being forced to flee violence by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)," calling on all parties to the conflict in Sudan to strictly respect international humanitarian law.
The EU official affirmed that protecting civilians and ensuring their safe passage is an urgent humanitarian duty, emphasizing the need to enable stranded families to access humanitarian aid and flee conflict areas safely. (end)
