Slovakia To Provide Ukraine With EUR 500M Worth Of Energy Equipment

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced this on X, Ukrinform reports.

Sybiha met with his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár in Košice as part of the third round of intergovernmental consultations chaired by Prime Ministers Yuliia Svyrydenko and Robert Fico.

The sides discussed key bilateral issues and ways to deepen the political dialogue. Sybiha thanked Slovakia for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and EU accession - together with Moldova and without“decoupling.”

“I informed my Slovak colleague about Russia's recent attacks on our energy infrastructure and civilians. And I am grateful for his timely announcement that Slovakia will supply Ukraine with a new €500,000 energy equipment package,” the minister said.

According to Sybiha, the Slovak side will also allocate €300,000 to build shelters in schools located in frontline regions of Ukraine.

He expressed gratitude to Slovakia for organizing summer recreation programs for Ukrainian children.

Another key topic of the talks was defense cooperation, including the use of the SAFE mechanism to strengthen Ukraine and further development of the PURL initiative.

“The Slovak side is ready to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine as part of the new security architecture in Europe,” Sybiha emphasized.

The ministers also discussed the 19th sanctions package, expected to be adopted soon. The Ukrainian foreign minister highlighted the importance of fully utilizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

Sybiha also praised the successful cooperation on protecting national minorities and announced plans to open a Consulate General in Prešov by the end of the year.

As reported earlier, following the intergovernmental consultations, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that Bratislava had decided to allocate additional funds to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure and build shelters.

The Ukraine-Slovakia intergovernmental consultations took place on October 17 in the Slovak city of Košice.
