All 28 Remaining Afghan Refugee Camps In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Officially Closed

The Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) has officially announced the closure of the remaining 28 Afghan refugee camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the notification, all refugee camps across the province have now been shut down. These include eight camps in Peshawar, five in Hangu, four in Kohat, three in Nowshera, three in Lower and Upper Dir, two each in Mardan and Swabi, and one in Buner.

The ministry has directed the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees to immediately hand over the land of all the closed camps to the provincial government. It also instructed that all immovable assets related to these camps be transferred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

It is worth mentioning that SAFRON had earlier, on October 13, announced the closure of 10 refugee camps in the province. With the latest notification, all Afghan refugee camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have now been completely shut down.
