India Reinstates U.S. Mail, Parcel Services

(MENAFN) India’s postal department confirmed Tuesday it will fully resume all mail and parcel services to the United States starting October 15, following a nearly two-month suspension.

The federal Ministry of Communications announced that a new compliance framework has been implemented to meet U.S. customs regulations, enabling smooth processing under the Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) model.

The ministry stated that, under this updated system, “all applicable customs duties on shipments to the United States will be collected upfront in India at the time of booking and remitted directly to CBP through approved qualified parties.”

This upgrade comes after substantial technical enhancements and close collaboration with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

According to the official release, “this ensures full regulatory compliance, faster customs clearance, and seamless delivery to addressees in the United States without any additional duty or delay.”

India halted all outbound postal dispatches to the U.S. on August 25, citing changes in American customs protocols introduced via an executive order from the U.S. administration.

The temporary suspension unfolded amid growing trade frictions between the two nations.
