Qatar Allocates USD 270 Million To Road Project

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – At a cost exceeding QAR 1 billion, equivalent to USD 269.3 million at the current exchange rate, Qatar announced the start of a road and infrastructure development project in the western region of the city of Umm Slal Mohammed. The project is part of a comprehensive plan to develop infrastructure services throughout the country, Qatari state news agency QNA reported.

The start of the works was announced by the Public Works Authority, known as Ashghal. The project will establish an internal road network and connectivity with public facilities and main roads. Integrated and advanced infrastructure services, such as sewage and stormwater drainage networks, will be implemented to accommodate population growth and ongoing commercial projects in the area.

According to Noor Ashkanani, a project engineer from Ashghal's Road Projects Department, more than 1,200 streetlights, traffic signs, and road markings will be installed. In addition, 73 kilometers of pedestrian sidewalks, 12 kilometers of bike lanes, and 5,000 parking spaces will be constructed. Landscaping works will cover an area of 385,000 square meters. The installed sewage network will extend for 27 kilometers.

Before the start of the works, the area was divided into four geographic zones, and the construction will be carried out sequentially in these zones to speed up completion and minimize the impact on the region. Ashghal cited meeting the needs of residents and responding to future urban growth demands as the main drivers for implementing this project.
