Marghoob Banihali Remembered at Literary Event

Srinagar- A galaxy of cultural and literary figures gathered at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, on Sunday to pay homage to the celebrated Kashmiri poet, thinker, and educationist, Prof. Marghoob Banihali, on the occasion of“Yaum-e-Marghoob.” The event was organised by the Marghoob Foundation under the patronage of Adabi Markaz Kamraz, J&K, and drew writers, poets, scholars, and cultural icons from across the Valley.

The programme began with a soulful recitation of Prof. Banihali's poetry by young artist Hanzala Hussain Saqib and his team, followed by the rendition of the Adabi Markaz Kamraz anthem, composed by the poet himself.

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Mushtaq Marghoob, Chairman of the Marghoob Foundation and son of the late poet, highlighted the Foundation's mission to preserve and promote Prof. Banihali's intellectual and spiritual legacy, especially among the younger generation.“Our aim is to help the youth stay rooted in Kashmiri language and culture while drawing inspiration from his poetry, which embodies both humanism and spiritual depth,” he said.

The event was presided over by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi, former Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), who described Prof. Banihali as“a symbol of an intellectual movement, infusing Kashmiri poetry with faith, truth, and social awakening.”
