KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Indonesia Khaled Al-Yassin discussed on Monday with the Head of the Indonesian Red Cross Society, Muhammad Kalla, ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of humanitarian relief and natural disaster response.
This meeting occurred at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Jakarta, said in a press statement received by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Yassin stressed the State of Kuwait's keenness to provide aid and necessary humanitarian and relief assistance to countries, including Indonesia, after natural disasters.
He explained that this assistance is part of Kuwait's pioneering role in the field of humanitarian and relief work around the world, without discrimination or distinction.
On his part, the Indonesian official praised the prominent humanitarian role played by the State of Kuwait in the field of charitable and relief work in Indonesia over the past years.
He also stressed that Kuwaiti aid had a significant impact in alleviating the suffering of the local population and supporting the state's emergency response efforts.
Indonesia is considered one of the most vulnerable countries to natural disasters due to its geographical location within the so-called "Ring of Fire."
It experiences dozens of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and floods annually, necessitating enhanced international cooperation in relief and rapid response, particularly with countries and organizations with extensive field experience in this area.(end)
