Gaza, Oct. 10 (Petra)-- By Friday noon, tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians began returning to Gaza City, northern Gaza, and Khan Younis in the south, after Israeli forces withdrew from these areas in implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire agreement.
The return was marked by mixed emotions joy and hope for an end to the war, tempered by anxiety and grief over the destruction of homes and loss of property.
Thousands of residents rushed back on foot, moving along Al-Rashid Street on the western side and Salah al-Din Street in the east, determined to reach what remains of their homes and belongings.
The Israeli army announced that it would allow movement from southern to northern Gaza via the Al-Rashid and Salah al-Din roads, following the entry into force of the ceasefire at 12:00 noon today.
