GCC-EU High Ministerial Forum On Regional Security, Cooperation Kicks Off In Kuwait

KUWAIT, Oct 5 (KUNA) -- The 2nd High-Level Ministerial Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation between the GCC and the EU, both hosted by Kuwait kicked off on Sunday.
The forum keen on bolstering joint strategic partnership in facing joint challenges.
The forum is chaired by the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the current GCC ministerial session, Abdullah Al-Yahya, from the GCC side, and by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaya Kallas, from the European side.
The forum is also attended by the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasim Al-Budaiwi.
The forum will discuss regional and international issues of common interest, including developments in the Middle East, cooperation in the areas of maritime security, the protection of sea-lanes, and international trade.
The forum is being held ahead of the 29th joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and the EU, scheduled for tomorrow.
Discussion will aim at enhancing trade and energy cooperation, combating climate change, and following up on the implementation of the outcomes of the first GCC-EU summit held in Brussels last year. (end)
