(MENAFN) President Vladimir Putin’s yearly speech at the Valdai Discussion Club, scheduled for Thursday, is highly anticipated worldwide, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

He noted that Putin will concentrate on the evolving international framework, which he refers to as a polycentric world.

During his address, the Russian leader is expected to share his perspective on the emerging global order and discuss how countries might adjust to these changes.

Peskov emphasized the significance of this annual event, stating, “This is his annual, traditional address. Without exaggeration, the whole world eagerly awaits this speech. As a rule, it turns out to be very substantive and is discussed and analyzed for a long time. We hope that this will also be the case this time.”

The spokesman highlighted that Putin’s speeches at Valdai usually focus on broad, strategic ideas rather than being shaped by fleeting events.

Throughout the years, Putin has often utilized his Valdai remarks to signal shifts in strategic priorities or to introduce new perspectives on global affairs.

His presentations are typically followed by a comprehensive question-and-answer session, providing further insight into his views.

Reflecting on past speeches, in 2014, shortly after the Western-supported Maidan coup in Ukraine, Putin asserted Russia’s right to safeguard its interests and sovereignty, presenting the country as a counterweight to Western dominance.

Despite this stance, he appealed to Washington to refrain from confrontation and to collaborate with Russia in fostering a multipolar world.

In 2022, after the conflict in Ukraine intensified, Putin described the West’s actions as an effort to preserve its global supremacy.

By 2023, he emphasized the importance of shaping a new future, stating that Russia “was, is and will be one of the foundations of this new world system.”
