PM Svyrydenko Calls On European Commission To Accelerate Technical Preparations For Ukraine's EU Accession
“We are pleased to welcome European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos to Kyiv on Ukraine's Defenders Day. This is a strong sign of support. Yesterday we completed the legislative screening - the fastest in EU history. The first cluster is ready to be opened, and our task is to use the three months of Denmark's EU Council presidency as effectively as possible to open all clusters this year. During the meeting, I called on the European Commission to accelerate the preparation of technical documents so we can move even faster,” Svyrydenko wrote.

She also thanked European partners for their financial support.
“In 2025, Ukraine has already received EUR 16.5 billion from the EU. Today, under the ERA program, we received an additional EUR 4 billion and expect another EUR 4.1 billion through this program by the end of the year. These inflows allow us to allocate more domestic funds to defense and social needs, especially when the financial challenges of 2026 remain high,” the Prime Minister noted.

In this context, Svyrydenko expressed support for European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's initiative for a reparation loan based on frozen Russian assets:
“The aggressor must pay, and the mechanism should be flexible - with the possibility to direct funds to defense, social expenditures, and national reconstruction.”
Svyrydenko also discussed reforms with Marta Kos.

“Ukraine is implementing changes even under the most challenging conditions: independence of anti-corruption bodies, institutional transparency, and new rules for business. I expect continued support from lawmakers for government initiatives to pave the way for EU membership,” she said.

As previously reported, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the proposal to provide Ukraine with a reparations loan backed by cash proceeds from immobilized Russian assets is a reliable and legal way to make Russia pay for the damage it has inflicted on Ukraine.
