India, Russia Launch ‘Indra 2025’ Military Drills
(MENAFN) India and Russia have initiated the 15-day military exercise named ‘Indra 2025’ in the desert area of Rajasthan. Approximately 250 Russian soldiers are participating alongside Indian forces in these training drills, according to a statement from the Russian Embassy in New Delhi.
“The joint exercises confirm the nature of the special, privileged strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi,” the embassy emphasized.
The operations are being conducted near the city of Bikaner, designed to replicate desert-like conditions, the announcement added.
The Indra series of drills have become a consistent aspect of military collaboration between India and Russia, typically held every two years with hosting duties alternating between the two nations. The last iteration occurred during 2021-2022.
India and Russia have engaged in multiple joint exercises covering land, air, and naval forces, including Indra, Avia Indra, and Indra Navy.
These exercises have played a crucial role in exchanging best practices, enhancing combined operational strategies and procedures, and strengthening mutual comprehension, as noted by the Indian Defense Ministry.
