Denmark states new drones have breached its sky

(MENAFN) On Saturday, a national news agency reported that new drones were sighted hovering over several Danish Armed Forces locations overnight, occurring days after Denmark had already shut down multiple airports due to unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicle activities.

A news agency quoted the Danish Armed Forces that drones were seen over multiple sites overnight.

While the precise locations of the incidents and the number of questionable drones were not released to the public, the media outlet pinpointed Karup Air Force Station (the biggest army base, housing around 3,500 personnel) as a site of drone activity on Friday night.

The newest drone activity occurred after Danish authorities shut down airspace over several airports late Thursday due to reports of drone presence, which led to rerouted flights and increased security worries over what PM Mette Frederiksen referred to as “a hybrid war unfolding on Danish soil.”

Frederiksen identified Russia as the main danger, even though those responsible for the violations have not been officially named.

A suspected Russian drone strike hit Polish territory on the 10th of September, leading NATO to dispatch fighter jets. Russia rejected similar allegations made by both Romania and Estonia.
