KISR Discusses Marine Science Cooperation With Coast Guard

KUWAIT, Sept 28 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Coast Guard discussed ways to strengthen cooperation by launching joint research projects serving national objectives in marine sciences and environmental protection.
This came in a KISR press statement Sunday following a visit by Coast Guard Director General Brig. Gen. Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah and his delegation to the instituteآ's research vessel Al-Mustakshif.
KISR said Director General Dr. Faisal Al-Humoudan, Acting Executive Director of the Environment and Life Sciences Research Center Dr. Abdullah Al-Enezi, and Coastal and Marine Resources Program Manager Dr. Turki Al-Saeed received the visiting delegation.
The statement added the delegation was briefed on the advanced capabilities and equipment of Al-Mustakshif, one of the largest and most modern research vessels in the Arabian Gulf region.
KISR officials provided explanations on the vessel's construction phases, technologies, and role in conducting marine surveys and collecting samples across the Arabian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
The visit also addressed the vesselآ's technical support for high-quality marine research, fisheries management, joint efforts to protect the marine environment and sustain its resources, as well as studies related to climate change.(end) oys
