Kuwaiti Paddler Takes Silver At '25 Asian Kayak Cup


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti athlete Abdulrahman Al-Babtain of Kuwait Sea Sport Club won second place and the silver medal in the 25-kilometer surfski endurance race at the '25 Asian Kayak Cup, held in Hong Kong.
Kayak supervisor at the club Mohammad Al-Awadhi told KUNA on Monday that the race was highly competitive, lasting two hours and 20 minutes, with strong public turnout and wide media coverage.
The championship ran from November 18 and featured teams from Hong Kong, Macau, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Kuwait.
Winners were crowned after the final events in the presence of International Canoe Federation President Thomas Konietzko, Al-Awadhi said.
He commended Al-Babtain for raising Kuwait's flag and said the result adds to Kuwait's achievements in kayaking, supported by the Public Authority for Sport and the club's board. (end)
