Ukraine Ready To Join 'Drone Wall' Project DM Shmyhal

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a joint meeting with EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, Ukrinform reports.

The meeting was also attended by the defense ministers of Denmark, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria, along with NATO representatives.

Discussions focused on concrete steps for implementing the project, launched by the European Commission.

“The drone wall will create an entirely new defense ecosystem in Europe, and Ukraine is ready to be part of it. Together with our allies, we will coordinate responses to Russian provocations in the skies and implement the most effective solutions,” Shmyhal said.

He added that Ukraine expects to sign a joint declaration with its partners as early as October.

“We are already ready to send technical teams to prepare units that will become part of the drone wall,” Shmyhal noted.

According to him,“Ukraine is a recognized leader in unmanned technologies. We are ready to share our experience of downing Russian drones with the EU, NATO, and neighboring states.”

The parties also discussed involving Ukrainian manufacturers in the project, since Ukraine has innovative, battlefield-tested developments.

“The aggressor has already carried out deliberate provocations against Denmark, Poland and the Baltic states. The EU must be prepared to respond decisively to such escalation. And Ukraine's role here is key,” the minister stressed.

Shmyhal thanked the European Commission for organizing the meeting and the participants for their readiness to join forces to defend the European continent.

As reported, EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius said the drone wall will form part of the broader Eastern Flank Watch initiative.
