US President Imposes New Tariffs On Heavy Trucks, Medicines And Furniture
Washington: US President Donald Trump announced a new package of tariffs, including a 10% levy on brand-name medicines and a 25% tariff on heavy trucks, to take effect next week.
He also unveiled new tariffs of 50% on kitchen and bathroom cabinets and 30% on upholstered furniture, effective October 1.
Trump explained in a series of posts on the Truth Social platform that the measures are part of a broader plan to curb the influx of foreign products into the US market.
It remains unclear whether the new tariffs will be imposed in addition to existing duties on certain countries. The president has not clarified whether key trade partners, such as the European Union and Japan, will be exempt from the new measures.
