Al Misnad Attends Events On Climate Action, Sudan Meets UN, EU Officials

New York: Qatar participated in a high-level event on climate action, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Qatar was represented in the meeting by Minister of International Cooperation H E Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad. Besides, Al Misnad met with H E Dr. Rola Abdullah Hussein Dashti, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The meeting dealt with areas of cooperation between the State of Qatar and ESCWA in sustainable development, empowering the most vulnerable groups, and supporting humanitarian efforts in the region. Both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultations on future programmes and initiatives that serve economic and social development in the region.

Besides, Al Misnad participated in a ministerial meeting 'Joint Efforts for De-escalation in Sudan,' organised by the European Union on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, Her Excellency affirmed Qatar's support for Sudanese people and its respect for Sudan's sovereignty and unity, as well as the importance of preserving the integrity of its territory.

Besides, Al Misnad met with Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations H E Amina Mohammed, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Al Misnad reaffirmed the State of Qatar's commitment to supporting the UN's efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and address global humanitarian challenges. Both sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination to serve shared priorities and strengthen their partnership.

Besides, Al Misnad participated in the high-level plenary meeting to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action on Youth, held under the theme, "World Programme of Action for Youth at 30: Accelerating global progress through intergenerational collaboration", on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Meanwhile, Al Misnad, met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, H E Volker Turk. Al Misnad also held talks yesterday with Executive Director of UN Women H E Dr. Sima Bahous. Al Misnad also met yesterday with EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management H E Hadja Lahbib.
