Jordan, Arab Women Investors Union Discuss Cooperation

Amman, Sept. 24 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development and Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment Chair, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, on Wednesday welcomed a delegation led by Arab Women Investors Union President, Chairperson of the Businesswomen Association for Development in Egypt, Hoda Yassa.
The minister reviewed initiatives in the Women's Empowerment Strategy of the Economic Modernization Vision, which seeks to unlock potentials to boost women's economic participation.
Mustafa highlighted legislative amendments to support women's role in the labor market, including changes to the labor, social security, and companies legislation. She also cited initiatives to improve women's economic engagement and ensure a decent work environment.
The minister referred to the institutional seal of equality for the private and public sectors, developed in accordance with international standards and tailored to national needs, which is scheduled to launch in 2026.
She underlined Jordan's progress in women's political and economic participation, reflected in its improved rankings in the Global Gender Gap Index, advancing four places with a 12.5-point increase, scoring 59.4 out of 100, above the Middle East and North Africa average.
Mustafa added that preparations are underway for a draft social responsibility policy to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors and expand social services for the Ministry's target groups.
For her part, Yassa stressed the private sector's role in serving vulnerable groups within social responsibility frameworks and voiced her aspiration for future cooperation with the Ministry's programs and services.
