Agricultural Producer Prices Up 4.8% In Janaug 2025

Amman, Sept. 24 (Petra) -- The Department of Statistics reported an overall 4.8% increase in the prices of agricultural producers during the first eight months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
The cumulative producer price index reached 115.3 points, up from 110.0 points a year earlier. However, the index for August recorded 92.4 points, showing a decline of 8.6% compared with August 2024 and a 3.5% drop from July 2025.
Between January and August 2025, higher prices were recorded for crops such as hot peppers, green sweet peppers, and bananas, which together accounted for 35.8% of relative importance in the index. By contrast, prices fell for key crops including potatoes, colored sweet peppers, and eggplants, which represented 64.2% of relative importance.
The decline in August compared with August 2024 was largely due to falling prices of tomatoes, colored sweet peppers, and figs, covering 56.1% of relative importance. Offsetting this, prices increased for crops such as white cabbage, grapefruit, and hot peppers, representing 43.9% of relative importance.
When compared with July 2025, the August index reflected lower prices for dates, guavas, and grapes, with a combined relative importance of 55.8%, while prices rose for cauliflower, carrots, and zucchini, representing 44.2% of relative importance.
