Russia's Upgraded Guided Bombs Now Reaching Zaporizhzhia Again Fedorov

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was announced by Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, during a briefing, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

According to Fedorov, there are currently two reasons why the bombs are once again reaching the city.

“First, the enemy has modernized its systems. Second, on the night from Sunday to Monday, the enemy launched a massive strike unlike anything seen before-fifteen guided bombs were dropped within a 20-minute window. That's a lot,” he said.

Fedorov noted that only about a third of those bombs were intercepted by air defense forces.

“We know how to respond. I've spoken with the Commander of the Air Force, and afterward with the Prime Minister. I'll be able to report more in a few days,” he added.

Fedorov emphasized that while the enemy continues to upgrade its technologies, the Ukrainian military is also enhancing its countermeasures.

In September 2024, Russia began using guided aerial bombs to strike Zaporizhzhia. In February 2025, the head of the regional administration announced that, together with the military, new countermeasures were being developed to prevent Russian forces from targeting civilians. For a significant period, the bombs failed to reach the city center, falling short on approach.

Fedorov also mentioned that Zaporizhzhia is considering the installation of modular underground shelters in the courtyards of apartment buildings that currently lack protective structures.

As reported, on the morning of September 22, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs-at least ten strikes were recorded across three districts of the city.

On the night of September 23, one person was killed in another aerial bomb attack on Zaporizhzhia. The strikes hit private residential areas and industrial infrastructure.
