BRUSSELS, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- The European Union condemned on Tuesday the strikes carried out by the Israeli occupation on Sunday in Southern Lebanon, which caused a number of civilian fatalities, including children.
The EU said in a statement "this incident follows an escalation of Israeli occupation attacks and warnings," stressing that the bloc reiterates its call for the "full respect and implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation."
It added, "Security concerns should be addressed by making full use of the monitoring mechanism established in the framework of the ceasefire agreement."
The EU further underlined that "the decisive efforts by the Government of Lebanon aiming at establishing the monopoly of the State on holding weapons should be supported by all." (end)
