Work Launched On 17 Projects Worth 55M Afs In Panjsher

PARAKH (Pajhwok): Construction work has been initiated on 17 development projects at a cost of 55 million afghanis in Anaba and Abshar districts of central Panjsher province.

Funded by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the projects are being implemented by the Future Generations Afghanistan (FGA) Organisation, the governor's office said in a statement.

The schemes include the construction of rural roads, bridges, retaining walls, check dams and irrigation canals. In addition to their infrastructural benefits, they will provide temporary employment to around 1,000 local residents.

The governor's office added that under the programme, some activities such as processing of livestock products, distribution of goats and provision of agricultural assistance were also planned.

Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim assured that efforts by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) would continue to attract further projects for the province.

He said currently 60 development schemes were being implemented in Paryan and Dara districts.
