Russians Intensify Use Of Various Weapons In Southern Ukraine Voloshyn

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was stated by Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, in a comment to Ukrinform.

"Compared to last week, the situation has somewhat escalated, and the enemy has increased the use of various types of weapons. In particular, missile strikes in the south have increased eightfold," he said.

According to Voloshyn, the number of missile strikes was slightly below average two weeks ago, but this week, Russian occupiers have again actively targeted Ukrainian defense positions, cities, and settlements in the south.

"Additionally, the use of Shahed/Geran-type drones has significantly increased. The number of Shaheds deployed across our operational zone in the south has risen by 70%," he added, noting that 67 drones were deployed overnight.

At the same time, Russians increased the use of unguided air-to-ground rockets by 30% and loitering munitions such as Molniya and Lancet threefold. "Today alone, 35 loitering munitions were used - including Molniya, Privet-82, and Lancet. The enemy now deploys several dozens of these munitions almost daily," Voloshyn emphasized.

Voloshyn also reported a high intensity of kamikaze drone attacks over the past day - 860 incidents, one of the highest in recent times, mostly along the Zaporizhzhia directions, targeting both defense positions and supporting assault operations.

The spokesperson noted that Ukraine's defense forces detected and destroyed 13 loitering drone operator teams. Additionally, drones were used to drop explosives: 160 such strikes involving nearly 200 explosive devices were recorded.

"Artillery fire has also increased significantly. Yesterday, there were almost 270 shelling incidents, compared to the usual 200–220, and the number of shells used rose to nearly 1,100, compared to the typical 750–800," Voloshyn summarized.

As Ukrinform reported, on September 21, there were 156 combat engagements between Ukraine's defense forces and Russian invaders on the front line.
