Nepali President Appoints Four More Ministers

(MENAFN) On Monday, Nepali President Ram Chandra Poudel officially swore in four new ministers to join the country’s interim government. The ceremony took place at the Office of the President in Kathmandu and was broadcast live.

Among the new appointees, former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha was assigned the roles of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, as well as Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation. Sinha will also oversee the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, previously under the purview of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

Mahabir Pun, a well-known figure in the country’s education and technology sectors, took the oath as Minister for Education, Science and Technology. Meanwhile, Madan Prasad Pariyar was appointed as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, and Jagdish Kharel will now lead the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

This reshuffle follows the resignation of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on September 9, in the wake of violent protests across Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal. On September 12, Sushila Karki, former Chief Justice, was appointed as the new Prime Minister of the interim government.

The first batch of ministers for the interim cabinet was sworn in on September 15. A fresh general election in Nepal is scheduled for March 5, 2026.
