Air Defense Forces Neutralize 552 Drones, Two Ballistic Missiles, And 29 Cruise Missiles
Starting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, the Russians launched a combined strike on Ukraine using strike UAVs, air-based, and ground-based missiles.
The Air Force's radio-technical troops detected and tracked 619 air attack vehicles:
579 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of dummy drones from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk;
8 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Yeysk (Russian Federation) and the temporarily occupied Crimea;
32 Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace of the Saratov region.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
During the attack, the Russians used their traditional tactics – a simultaneous strike on specific targets with a large number of missiles and UAVs of various types.
During the air strike on cruise missiles, tactical aviation, in particular F-16 fighters, worked effectively. Western weapons once again proved their efficiency on the battlefield.
The Air Force thanked its partners for the assistance already provided and expressed hope for further strengthening Ukraine's airspace, both with ground-based air defense systems and aviation components.
