GAM Launches Change Day Initiative On World Patient Safety Day

Amman, Sept. 18 (Petra) – The Department of Social Facilities and Programs at the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) organized a Change Day initiative on Thursday to coincide with World Patient Safety Day, launched by the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to a GAM statement, Director of the Department of Social Facilities and Programs, Rana Qatani, presented the municipality's efforts to support children through the Amman Child-Friendly City project. The event drew 200 participants from the local community.
She highlighted initiatives in health, social, and volunteer fields, noting that 7,000 children have participated in activities at social centers across Amman since the beginning of 2025. Qatani stressed the role of the Municipal Council's children in communicating the needs of Amman's children to decision-makers.
Reem Qasim, Head of the Family Counseling Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, discussed children's mental health and the impact of video games and social media.
Ahmed Subaihi, representing Humanity and Inclusion, emphasized the importance of early detection in children's health for prompt intervention, diagnosis, and treatment.
The event concluded with an extensive discussion led by GAM's Executive Director of Social Affairs, Rana Jaghbeer, addressing participants' questions and concerns.
