EAA, QFFD, And Teach For Lebanon Partner To Empower Over 23,000 Vulnerable Students
Doha, Qatar: The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, in collaboration with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), has partnered with Teach For Lebanon (TFL) to launch a groundbreaking initiative titled“Resilience Through Education: Empowering Vulnerable Students in Lebanon with SEL and Inclusive Learning.” The project is designed to respond to the urgent educational and psychosocial needs of children affected by Lebanon's ongoing crises, providing inclusive, trauma-informed, and emotionally supportive education to over 23,000 vulnerable students across the country.
Lebanon's education system continues to face mounting challenges amid overlapping economic, social, and humanitarian crises. This initiative seeks to ensure that marginalised children are not left behind and can access quality education that also nurtures their emotional well-being. Through three core interventions, the programme will provide holistic support to learners in need.
The first component includes in-school support led by TFL Fellows who have been trained in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-informed approaches. These Fellows will deliver both academic instruction and emotional support directly in classrooms across Lebanon. Secondly, the initiative will roll out a toll-free Call and Learn Hotline offering over 59,500 academic support calls to students from kindergarten to Grade 9. This service will enable learners to receive continuous guidance, especially those unable to access traditional classroom settings. Finally, thousands of students will benefit from the distribution of essential stationery kits, helping them remain engaged and equipped throughout the academic year.
In addition to direct student support, the initiative also focuses on teacher capacity-building. A total of 301 educators, including TFL Fellows, hotline teachers, and other local teachers, will be trained using the Education Above All Foundation's“Let Kids Be Kids” SEL toolkit. This resource includes over 100 activity-based modules designed to promote emotional resilience, positive routines, and life skills through engaging, interactive methods.
"At Education Above All Foundation, we remain committed to finding innovative ways to reach children where they are, ensuring that no learner is left behind," said Janhvi Kanoria, Executive Director of Innovation Development at Education Above All Foundation.“This partnership with Teach For Lebanon and the Qatar Fund for Development is helping us reach more than 23,000 vulnerable students across Lebanon with the academic and socio-emotional support they need to thrive. From in-school support to the Call and Learn hotline and the provision of essential learning materials, these interventions are creating new pathways for children to access inclusive, quality education.”
“Teach For Lebanon exists to empower Fellows with the skills and mindset to transform classrooms and inspire students, even in the most underserved communities,” said Janine Weber-el Meouchy, Executive Director of Teach For Lebanon.“We are truly grateful for this partnership with the EAA Foundation and the Qatar Fund for Development, which enables us to go beyond academics, addressing students' social and emotional well-being, especially in times of crisis. Together, we are shaping a generation of resilient, forward-thinking leaders who can build a brighter future for Lebanon.”
This initiative builds on Teach For Lebanon's extensive experience in Education in Emergencies (EiE), having previously supported children during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lebanon's economic collapse, the Beirut port explosion, and ongoing conflicts. TFL's Fellows are uniquely trained to operate in fragile contexts, delivering academic learning, psychosocial care, and community leadership.
By working together, EAA Foundation, QFFD, and Teach For Lebanon are paving the way for a more inclusive, emotionally resilient, and accessible education system that supports every child's right to learn and thrive.
