Amman, Sep. 14 (Petra) - Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Qatamin, checked on progress of Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on Saturday evening.
Qatamin boarded a bus in both directions to inspect quality of services provided to citizens.
According to a ministry statement on Sunday, Qatamin noted the visit aims directly to check on the current service situation, listen to citizens' comments, and identify areas for development and improvement, in line with citizens' aspirations for "efficient, safe, and comfortable inter-city public transportation."
During the tour, Qatamin directed expansion of e-payment services and simplification of their use to serve all segments of society.
Qatamin also directed measures to enhance comfort levels on buses, while constantly monitoring their cleanliness and quality of their facilities.
Additionally, he instructed improvement of the safety system by developing monitoring systems and improving the commuting environment on buses.
Transport and logistics sector projects are continuing within the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision, which seeks to improve citizens' quality of life, he pointed out.
The ministry, he noted, is continuing to develop the public Inter-governorate transport system, in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency, quality, and safety.
Qatamin highlighted the success of the first phase of the regular inter-governorate transport project, which contributed to providing services similar to the BRT network.
On the future, he said the project's second phase will see the inclusion of additional governorates, as part of the ministry's plan to expand coverage, achieve "effective connectivity between Jordan's regions, reduce travel time, and enhance reliance on public transport services."
