At least seven Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred and 13 others injured during a fierce clash between security forces and militants in the Sar Banda area of Maidan, Lower Dir, on Thursday. According to official sources, one soldier is reported missing.

The incident occurred when militants, who had established bunkers, opened fire on a military convoy during a search and strike operation. The injured personnel were first shifted to Lal Qila Hospital and later referred to Timergara District Headquarters Hospital.

Heavy contingents of police, Elite Force, and Dir Scouts have been deployed in the area, and the operation is still ongoing. Reports suggest that at least ten militants have been killed, though details are yet to be officially confirmed. Late at night, militants also attacked the Lajbok police post, but security personnel successfully repelled the assault.

In response to the tense situation, the district administration has imposed Section 144 in Lower Dir, banning the use of drones, quadcopters, and balloons. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arif Khan has ordered strict legal action against violators.

Meanwhile, in South Waziristan, tribal elders of the Toji Khel clan convened a jirga and announced that they would not allow their land to be used by terrorists. They warned militants to either leave the area or face expulsion.

According to the jirga's decision, anyone found sheltering or assisting militants would face demolition of their house and a fine of Rs. 2 million.
