Amman, Sept. 12 (Petra)-- The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) affirmed that it is still carrying out government directives in order to carry out its responsibility of keeping an eye on society and safeguarding its members especially children and teenagers from various online threats. It is keeping a careful eye on the potential hazards associated with certain online games, such as Roblox.
According to professional investigations and research, the TRC clarified, certain aspects of the game, especially chat rooms, present hazards that could expose kids to abuse, exploitation, or the encouragement of risky behavior.
According to studies, these open chat rooms' design and dependence on face-to-face connection with anonymous users make them an ideal setting for the spread of offensive material or efforts to have hazardous conversations with minors.
Given the unique risk that these elements pose to children and adolescents, the TRC said that it had held direct talks with the Roblox platform administrators and reached an agreement that the platform would fully block the chat rooms for users in the Kingdom. Additionally, the TRC committed to blocking any offensive content that might be present on the platform.
In addition to being part of integrated regulatory and oversight efforts that include raising community awareness and bolstering the role of families and relevant institutions in keeping an eye on the applications and electronic games that children use, the TRC stressed that this measure is part of a comprehensive policy to protect children in the digital environment.
The government urged parents, civil society groups, and the media to step up efforts to raise awareness, keep an eye on kids' digital activity, and report any apps or content that can endanger their safety or the family's and society's values.
The TRC concluded by reaffirming its commitment to keep an eye on advancements in this field and take the required steps to guarantee a secure online environment.
