Closed-Door Bilateral Meeting Between Russia, GCC Kicks Off In Sochi

MOSCOW, Sept 11 (KUNA) -- Closed-door bilateral meetings between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his counterparts from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries kicked off in the Russian city of Sochi as part of the eighth round of the strategic dialogue between the two sides.
In a statement Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the expanded open session will be held immediately after the closed-door meetings, with the participation of Lavrov and the foreign ministers of the GCC states.
A press conference will follow, with the participation of Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, representing Kuwait and the current chairman of the GCC, and the Secretary-General of the Council, Jassim Mohammad Al-Budaiwi, it added.
The talks will address ways to further develop trade, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the Russian Federation and the GCC countries, as well as exchanging views on regional developments in the Middle East and North Africa, including the situations in Syria and Yemen, and a number of other issues of common interest.
