Kuwaiti 64Th Football Premier League Kicks Off Fri. With Two Matches

KUWAIT, Sept 11 (KUNA) -- The 64th edition of the Kuwaiti Premier League (Zain League) kicks off tomorrow, Friday, with two matches, when Al-Jahra faces Al-Fahaheel at Mubarak Al-Ayyar Stadium and Al-Arabi hosts Al-Shabab at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium.
The first round of the 2025-2026 season of the tournament will resume on Saturday with matches between Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Nasr at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium, and Al-Tadhamon and Al-Kuwait at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium. The first round will conclude on Sunday, when Al-Salmiya hosts its counterpart, Kadhma, at Thamer Stadium.
The Premier League, comprising 10 clubs, will be conducted according to the system in place for the previous season. The first stage will be held in a two-legged format (home and away), with the clubs being divided into two groups after the two rounds, with the clubs retaining their points.
The Kuwaiti League began its competitions in the 1961-1962 season. Kuwait SC is the most successful club with 20 titles, followed by Al-Arabi and Al-Qadisiya with 17 titles. Al-Salmiya and Kadhma come next with four titles each, while Al-Jahra SC has won the title once. (end)
