Free Neurology Camp Benefits 400 Patients In Kulgam

Srinagar – Over 400 patients suffering from various neurological ailments received free consultation and treatment from a team of top neurologists from Superspeciality Hospital, Shireen Bagh, Government Medical College (GMC) during a day-long medical camp organized in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
The free medical camp was organized by the Department of Neurology, Superspeciality Hospital, at the sub-district hospital (SDH) Damhal Hanjipora on Tuesday, officials said.
The camp was aimed to raise awareness about neurological diseases and provide early diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care.
The Patients, officials said, were offered free consultations, medicines, and diagnostic services, ensuring that quality healthcare reached those in need. As part of the initiative, the officials said, the department conducted several electrophysiological tests such as Electroencephalography (EEG) to aid in accurate diagnosis of conditions like epilepsy, headaches, neuropathies, stroke, and other neurological disorders.
“Our goal was to bring specialized neurological care closer to the community. Neurological diseases often go undiagnosed until late stages. Camps like these not only provide immediate relief but also raise awareness about prevention and early detection.”The hospital management expressed gratitude to the dedicated medical team and staff whose efforts made the camp a success, reaffirming the hospital's commitment to serving the community with accessible, specialized healthcare services,” Professor & Head, Department of Neurology, Prof (Dr) Bashir Ahmad Sanaie said.
Dr. Sheikh Hilal Ahmad, (Assistant Professor) Nodal Officer for this outreach camp said“The overwhelming response to this camp reflects the need for such outreach initiatives. By offering free medicines, we aim to give quality health care, awareness to underserved. It will also lay a ground for epidemiological studies in these areas”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tanveer Hassan, Consultant Neurology emphasized the importance of timely medical intervention and awareness in improving quality of life for patients with neurological conditions.
“The overwhelming response to this camp reflects the need for such outreach initiatives. By offering free medicines, diagnostics, and awareness, we are ensuring that even the underserved sections of society receive quality neurological care,” he said.
