Kuwait Lauds IAEA Efforts, Urges Iran For Cooperation
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
VIENNA, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait affirmed the importance of the role played by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its efforts in the verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran, commending the professional work carried out by the IAEA Director General and his team.
This came in a speech delivered Wednesday by the Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait to International Organizations in Vienna, Dr. Sara Issa Al-Ajmi, before the work of the Agency's Board of Governors, currently convened under the item of verification and monitoring in Iran, in light of Security Council Resolution 2231.
In her remarks, Al-Ajmi noted that the IAEA's report, issued on September 3, 2025, revealed that verification and monitoring operations were affected by military attacks launched by the Israeli occupation forces, which led to the agency losing continuity of knowledge regarding the production and monitoring of centrifuges and heavy water in Iran.
Kuwait called on Iran to continue its cooperation with the Agency and resume coordination with it in a way that enables the Agency to provide credible assurances about the nature of its nuclear program and to ensure the continuation of Iran's status as a non-nuclear-weapon state. (end)
