GCC States Exert Enormous Efforts To Safeguard Public Funds -- Council Chief

KUWAIT, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the six-state Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi on Wednesday said the member states have been exerting enormous efforts for safeguarding all types of public funds.
Al-Budaiwi, addressing the 22nd meeting of GCC countries' chief auditors and accountants, indicated at inclusive efforts in this respect by the auditing and monitoring apparatuses in the council's member countries. He also indicated that the holding of the meeting mirrored keenness of the GCC states' leaders to advance the inter-GCC action at the auditing level.
He addressed deep appreciation and admiration to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the current chairman of the GCC Supreme Council, for the sincere efforts that have been exerted by the Kuwaiti Government for ensuring success of the GCC meetings.
The GCC Secretary General congratulated Saudi Arabia on the 95th anniversary of unifying the kingdom and the United Arab Emirates for winning membership in the executive committee of INTOSAI, the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.
Elaborating, he said the GCC Secretariat General prepared the meeting file; based on outcome of the 26th undersecretaries' meeting, held on July 30, indicating that it included topics concerning oversight and auditing.
Among the most significant subjects is a training plan for the 2023-2025 period, including initiatives designed to back up efforts for boosting potentials of the auditing tasks, a draft training strategic plan for the 2026-2028 period, based on previous schemes, aimed at forecasting requirements of the coming period and boosting professional capacities in the auditing apparatuses, he added.
The file also features outcome of the GCC the supervision and auditing competition for research and studies (the sixth edition) and a UAE proposal on governance of revising accounts of the GCC Secretariat General.
Elaborating further, Al-Budaiwi noted that the conferees discussed a draft of the executive bylaw for the employment distinctiveness award, designed to stimulate cadres and elevate level of institutions' performance among the audit apparatuses, in addition to specializing a Gulf week for auditing and financial oversight.
