UN Special Rapporteur Visits New Maternity Hospital

KUWAIT, Sept 10 (KUNA) - The UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls Reem Al-Salem paid an official visit to the New Maternity Hospital, as part of efforts to enhance international cooperation and share expertise in humanitarian and health issues.
Ministry of Health said in a press statement that Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services Dr. Hisham Kalandar received Al-Salem, and reviewed Kuwait's national efforts and specialized health programs aimed at protecting women and supporting survivors of violence, reflecting the country's commitment to advancing women's rights.
The ministry affirmed that the visit highlighted Kuwait's achievements in promoting the rights of women and children and reaffirmed its commitment to aligning services with international standards.
Al-Salem was also briefed on healthcare, prevention, and support services, and toured the Child Protection Office, which plays a key role in strengthening social and health safeguards for women and children. (end)
