Türkiye's Togg Speeds Up Development of Third EV Model
(MENAFN) Türkiye's electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Togg, has announced it is developing a third model, the T8X—a B-segment SUV. Company executives revealed the accelerated timeline at the IAA Mobility 2025 event in Munich, stating the new vehicle will be released sooner than initially planned.
At the IAA Mobility 2025 event, Togg's Chairman Fuat Tosyali and CEO Gurcan Karakas were present to showcase the company's latest products. Karakas underscored Germany's importance as a key market for Togg's global growth, calling it the right place for a challenging venture due to its size. He stated that a successful showing in Germany would set the stage for broader international expansion, with plans to then enter the markets of France and Italy.
Togg CEO Gurcan Karakas stated that the two-and-a-half-year interval between the company's first two vehicle releases was strategically utilized to integrate the swift progress in AI, battery, and connected technologies. He revealed that Togg has already begun development on the T8X, a compact version of the T10X. While a project of this nature typically takes about two and a half years to finish, Karakas mentioned that the company is actively working to launch it in approximately two years.
Tosyali emphasized the importance of the two previous models’ five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP, a factor he believes will "definitely contribute” to the brand's success.
On the topic of battery technology, Karakas confirmed Togg is collaborating with "the best brands" on next-generation chemical batteries, an effort supported by the Turkish government. “We started with a company that had started mass production worldwide, making the largest and the highest energy density — and the highest chemistry — batteries that would provide the longest range, but that firm, like other firms, is preparing for the changes in technology,” he explained. He reassured that this doesn't mean a loss of production capability. “Now, that doesn’t mean we will lose our competence to produce batteries, though who we work with is important — as long as we continue to work with the best in the world, we will have access to these resources.”
Karakas reiterated Togg's commitment to strategic partnerships. “We always prefer to identify the best partners for us and continue with them,” he said. He also mentioned that the company is preparing for the use of lithium pyrophosphate (LFP) batteries.
