The two-day event is jointly organized by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and is expected to gather several high-profile senior government officials and business leaders from countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and explore business collaboration, trade, and investment opportunities.

"In recent years, China and Kuwait have worked together to strengthen the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Kuwait Vision 2035, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote common development. During the meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for better alignment of development strategies, and promoting the high-quality implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, and strengthening the momentum of regional development and improve the well-being of the people. Kuwait is a partner country of the SCO, also a close friend and reliable partner of China," he noted.
"China stands ready to work with Kuwait under both bilateral and multilateral frameworks to deepen practical cooperation across sectors, and promote the upgrading of physical connectivity, the strengthening of institutional connectivity and the deepening of people-to-people connectivity, so as to contribute to building a China-Arab community with a shared future and deliver greater benefits to the two peoples," he added.
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a massive global infrastructure and economic development project launched by China in 2013.
It is China's strategy to boost global trade and stimulate economic growth across Asia and beyond by developing trade routes and investing in infrastructure.
"Belt" refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt, connecting China to Europe via Central Asia and the Middle East (land routes). Meanwhile, "Road" refers to the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, connecting China to Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe via sea routes. (end)
