Israeli Occupation Orders Gaza City Residents To Evacuate

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- The Israeli occupation authorities on Tuesday ordered residents of Gaza City to evacuate it and head for the south via al-Rashid axis.
The occupation authorities warned the residents to leave the city to spare themselves heavier bombardment on the city. The troops would operate with great might, they warned.
The Israeli television chancel 12, meanwhile, affirmed that it was the first such warning to the estimated one million population since preparing for the wide scale operation to seize the city.
Scores of Palestinians have already fled the city, amid intensive bombardment and attacks targeting its suburbs.
Tel Aviv had declared a plan to occupy the city and press for release of a number of Israeli prisoners held by Hamas movement.
Meanwhile, Hamas expressed readiness to sit at the negotiating table and discuss releasing the prisoners in exchange for halting the aggression and withdrawing all the occupation troops from Gaza. It also expressed readiness to discuss establishing a committee of "independent Palestinian figures" to run the administrative affairs in the region.
Many states have warned Tel Aviv to refrain from occupying Gaza City, amid soaring numbers of martyrs among adults and children.
The Gazans' toll of martyrs had already exceeded 64,000. (end)
