I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences in 2015, the same year I joined the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at the University of Vigo. Subsequently, I completed a Master's degree in Agri-Food and Environmental Science and Technology (2016), which granted me access to the PhD Programme in Agri-Food Science and Technology. I was awarded my PhD with distinction (Cum Laude) by the University of Vigo in 2021. My research focused on the dynamics of emerging contaminants in soils and waters, as well as on the development of strategies for the remediation of these ecosystems. My doctoral dissertation, entitled“Retention, transport, and degradation mechanisms of antibiotics in agricultural soils”-which was based on 17 scientific articles-received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the University of Vigo and the 2022 Best PhD Thesis Award in Soil Science from the Spanish Society of Soil Science (SECS).

With regard to research projects, my doctoral work was conducted within the framework of two national projects:“Environmental problems derived from the presence of veterinary antibiotics in soil” (2016–2018) and“Human-consumed antibiotics in agricultural areas treated with sewage sludge and control strategies using bioadsorbents: degradation and effects on microorganisms” (2019–2021). At the international level, I am actively engaged as a researcher in two Horizon Europe Pillar 2 projects (SoildiverAgro and BIOservicES), and I also serve as Principal Investigator of an Interreg SUDOE project (VITI-VALMO).

In terms of teaching, I have delivered 168 hours of lectures and practical classes in the Bachelor's Degrees in Environmental Sciences and Agricultural Engineering, and I have supervised six undergraduate dissertations (TFGs). I am also the author of a teaching-oriented scientific article and have served as a committee member in several undergraduate thesis defences.

With respect to scientific output, I am currently co-author of 40 articles published in leading scientific journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), with a total of 1,538 citations and an h-index of 24 (August 2025). Notably, 80% of these publications have appeared in first-quartile (Q1) journals within categories such as Environmental Science, Soil Science, and Agriculture. I am first author of 23 articles and corresponding author of 11. Additionally, I have co-authored 11 book chapters, most of them published by renowned academic publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, and CRC Press. I have also contributed to 17 international and 13 national conferences. Finally, I regularly serve as a peer reviewer for high-impact journals in environmental and agricultural sciences.
