İstanbul hosts second Photo Awards 2025 exhibition
(MENAFN) The İstanbul Photo Awards 2025 held its second exhibition on Friday, organized with a reception led by Turkish news agency chairman and CEO Serdar Karagoz. The international news photography competition had previously opened in Ankara before moving to Istanbul.
This latest exhibition showcases 139 photographs captured by 29 award-winning photojournalists. The works are on display at the Dolmabahce Art Gallery, part of Türkiye’s National Palaces Collections Museum.
During his address, Karagoz emphasized the enduring power of visual storytelling. “Photography continues to be the purest and most powerful language of truth,” he said. “The frames you see here today are not just photographs but notes written into history, fragments of memory preserved for the future. Today, in Gaza, in Ukraine, and in other parts of the world, we are witnessing very precious testimonies through these photographs.”
He highlighted the winning image of the competition, captured by photographer Saeed Jaras in Gaza, which portrays parents mourning their children who lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike.
“This frame was chosen as the best photo of 2025 by our jury,” Karagoz explained. “Looking at it, we understand that war is not only about statistics. War cannot be told by numbers alone, because every frame, every moment is a human story.”
