Zelensky Discusses Security Guarantees For Ukraine With Fico

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) He made this statement during a briefing following his meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Zakarpattia, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Peace has no alternative, and we stand for peace. The war must be brought to an end-and that responsibility lies solely with Russia, the aggressor that started this war and continues to prolong it. In Ukraine, we want peace. We count on support for our peace initiatives. Robert assured me that Slovakia will stand with us and our other partners in working toward peace,” the President said.

Zelensky noted that the two sides discussed the topic of security guarantees for Ukraine.

“It's good that Slovakia is ready to define its position on this issue and is open to dialogue with us. Most of Europe is already part of the security guarantees framework. We are working with our partners and believe it would be right for Slovakia to also join the new security system,” Zelensky emphasized.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, President Zelensky held a bilateral meeting with European Council President António Costa in Zakarpattia.
