Roblox has entered into a strategic alliance with the International Age Rating Coalition to overhaul its content labelling system, replacing its existing maturity labels with recognised regional ratings such as ESRB in the United States, PEGI in the UK and Europe, USK in Germany, and GRAC in South Korea. Lawsuits, including one filed by Louisiana, have accused the platform of failing to shield minors from dangerous interactions. In joining forces with IARC, Roblox seeks to reinforce its commitment to a safer environment while offering creators a unified system to secure age and content ratings for their experiences. The IARC model relies on a single questionnaire that generates multiple region-specific ratings and has been adopted across multiple digital storefronts since the early 2010s.

Regional rating agencies participating in the IARC coalition include ESRB, PEGI, USK, GRAC, ClassInd, ACB, IGRS, DGSC, and Gmedia, collectively covering a vast global population.

The expanded age-estimation policy will apply to all users engaging with communication tools on Roblox by the end of the year. Previously, only users under nine needed verification; now, all chat access, voice or text, will be contingent on age estimation and caregiver approval.
