DuckDuckGo has expanded its subscription offering to give users access to some of the most advanced AI models now available-without compromising on its core commitment to privacy. For US $9.99 per month, subscribers gain entry to the newly upgraded Duck. ai platform, unlocking the power of OpenAI's GPT‐4o and GPT‐5, Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4, and Meta's Llama Maverick-all integrated into one seamless, privacy‐oriented interface.

This enhancement builds on DuckDuckGo's identity-protecting ecosystem, which already includes a VPN, personal information removal, and identity theft restoration tools. By adding access to these AI models, DuckDuckGo enriches its suite of services while preserving user anonymity.

Subscribers benefit from an intuitive, privacy-safe way to harness advanced AI without managing separate subscriptions across platforms. The models now included go beyond the free-tier offerings-like GPT‐4o mini or Claude 3.5 Haiku-and provide deeper contextual understanding, refined instruction-following, and more nuanced responses.

DuckDuckGo stresses that users' chat data remains private: model providers receive anonymised requests, none of the user's prompts are used for further AI training, and the local“Fire Button” feature allows instant deletion of chat history.

Gabriel Weinberg, DuckDuckGo's CEO and founder, commented that the platform offers a“layer of protection for everything you do online”, reinforcing the company's stance that the best privacy protection stems from preventing data collection altogether.

Data from IndexBox suggests that bundling AI capabilities into a single privacy package may appeal to users seeking convenience and cost-effectiveness, especially given separate AI subscriptions often cost significantly more.

Though DuckDuckGo hasn't specified usage limits for the current tier, it indicates that higher subscription levels giving access to even more powerful models are planned for future release.

Analysts note this move positions DuckDuckGo as a compelling privacy-first alternative in the increasingly competitive AI landscape. Integrating high-performance AI models-without sacrificing anonymity-sets it apart from major tech players whose offerings often come at the cost of user data.

Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4, released in May 2025, represents a powerful evolution in the Claude model family-balancing skill and performance. It joins OpenAI's GPT‐5, already gaining traction in various AI platforms, and Meta's Llama Maverick as part of Duck. ai's new toolkit.

Access is straightforward: subscribers can visit Duck. ai or use integrated interface options within the DuckDuckGo mobile or desktop browser to choose from these model offerings. The company continues to emphasise that AI tools remain optional; users may disable them entirely and rely solely on existing privacy and browsing services.
