I spent much time by the pond, contemplating humanity's relationship with nature, a theme I've long explored. I observed the Vyksa residents fishing with rods, unlike the net fishing common in my homeland. My work 'Grandson of Mora Sen in Vyksa' stems from this observation. The presence of children also reminded me of my own youth. These reflections formed the basis of the series.”

Serigne Ibrahima Diye: Forced Migration and the Search for Security

Serigne Ibrahima Diye, a graduate of the Dakar National School of Arts and a resident of the Cécile Fakhoury Gallery, creates mixed-media pieces at the intersection of drawing, painting, and collage. His work often addresses the complexities of modern society, particularly the plight of those displaced by forced migration. He explores the hopes and dangers faced by individuals seeking refuge from instability.

Serigne Ibrahima Diye explains:“Many are leaving their homes for various reasons, primarily due to forced migration. They seek safety, peace, and dignity. However, the journey is often fraught with danger. The desert winds and ocean waves become the routes of migrants, carrying their fragile hope. What awaits them?”

Mbaye Babacar Diouf: Balancing Tradition and Modernity

Mbaye Babacar Diouf, recognized as a leading voice in the Senegalese art scene and celebrated at events like the Paris Art Fair and the DAK'ART International Biennale of Contemporary African Art, explores the search for balance in the modern world. His work directly engages with socio-political issues and resonates with the aspirations of his generation.

At the Volna exhibition center in Vyksa, Diouf presented his painting series“Harmony.”

“I examine the concept of harmony and the inner feelings arising from the realization of the need for coexistence,” explains Mbaye Babacar Diouf.“My works express the universal desire for an ideal life.”

Khalifa Mane: Voicing the Aspirations of a Generation through Art

Khalifa Mane's practice reflects the socio-political concerns and youth aspirations that shape Contemporary African Art. His experiences with protests in Senegal heavily influenced his work. Khalifa Mane states:“Dark tones dominate this series, conveying the anxiety, helplessness, and alienation experienced by my generation. However, bright details and dynamic forms offer symbols of rebirth, resilience, and inner strength.”
