UN Expresses Sorrow To Sudan Over Darfur's Landslide

PORT SUDAN, September 2 (KUNA) -- United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in Sudan Luca Renda expressed on Tuesday his deep sorrow after the devastating landslide in the Northern Darfur Province.
Renda said in a statement, "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Sudan at this tragic time."
Local sources indicate that between 300 and 1,000 people may have lost their lives, Renda added.
He stressed that the United Nations and the humanitarian community stands in solidarity with the people of Sudan and will spare no effort to ensure that aid can reach those in need without delay. (end)
